Boux Avenue, the UK's leading lingerie specialists recently did a survey with YouGov, where they discovered 30% of women have never had a bra fitting*, with 20% only ever having had 1 bra fitting*.
Delving into the data deeper.
- Gen Z (18-24 year old's) were the age group with the highest rate of never having had a fitting in-store at 37%*
- London was amongst the top 3 highest regions, with 32% of women never having a bra fitting in-store *
- 27% of women who are parents have never had a bra fitting in-store*.
In the recent survey carried out with YouGov, Boux Avenue also discovered that 70% of women who have had a bra fitting, last had a bra fitting in-store over 2 years ago!! Here at Boux we advise that women should have a bra fitting every 6 to 12 months, to ensure you are wearing the right fit and style for your bust.
Interestingly looking at Google Trends data, searches for ‘Bra fitting near me’ are higher now post-Covid at +837% compared to 5 years ago, with the interest still continuing to rise. The average monthly search volume in the UK for ‘How to measure bra size’ is 27,100, with searches for ‘bra fitting near me’ at 3,600.
Remember as well, back in February Boux Avenue also discovered through data of 41,380 women in the UK that only 19% are wearing the correct bra size. That is a whooping 81% wearing the wrong size, with 26% wearing a cup size too big!

Why do you need to be fitted every 6 - 12 Months?
Just like with your clothing, your bra size can change frequently too, which is why it’s important to get measured every 6 to 12 months. But why do bra sizes change?
- Weight loss or gain – gaining or losing just a few pounds can have an impact on your bra size as your bust is made from fat tissue, so it’s important to get measured with any significant changes in weight.
